Who is the Office of the CEO?

Through big-picture thinking and building strong relationships with all stakeholders of our regional utility, the Office of the CEO is responsible for leading and advocating to advance the utility and meet the needs of central Iowa water customers.

CEO and General Manager
The CEO and General Manager reports to the Board of Water Works Trustees and oversees the Senior Management Team. The CEO and General Manager actively participates in internal/external committees and organizations and serves on numerous national, regional, and community boards and committees.

Communications and Outreach Manager
The Communications and Outreach Manager leads the utility’s strategic communications planning process, oversees communication to internal and external stakeholders, assists with the utility’s strategic planning process and monitors legislative issues affecting Des Moines Water Works and the drinking water industry. This position coordinates community outreach efforts related to highlighting the utility’s mission, brand and relationship-building with our customers and community.

Special Projects Coordinator
The Special Projects Coordinator manages, from inception to delivery, the utility’s strategic community- and customer-based initiatives such as the strategic plan, the William G. Stowe Citizen Water Academy of Central Iowa, and the climate action plan. This position also coordinates all tours at the utility and plays an instrumental role in company culture as a representative of the employee social organization.

Our team works with industry, community, and utility leaders to provide leadership on a wide variety of projects and issues associated with operating a municipal utility.  Staff works closely with our Board of Trustees, who are community leaders, in formulating new policies and strategies for the utility.
