Interview Process

Online Application

See a job posting that interests you?  Start an online application by clicking Search/Apply for Jobs.
You must create an applicant profile with NEOGOV to use the system. If you have already registered at governmentjobs.com, you can use that account for the Des Moines Water Works application process.

Most job related notifications, including interview date, application status, and other time-sensitive items, will be sent to you via email. Please be sure you monitor your email account for notifications and updates.

We only accept applications during the announced recruiting period, so make sure to check the application deadline.

Complete a separate application for each job. A resume or letter of interest cannot be accepted in place of the application, but may be attached to an application as additional information.

Remember that it is your responsibility to make sure your application is complete and that all required documents (licenses, transcripts, supplemental questionnaires, etc.) have been submitted. Incomplete applications will not be considered
.

Assessments/Interview

After we receive your online application, we will review it to see if you meet the requirements for the position. We may call you to obtain additional information about your qualifications.

If we feel that you have potential for an opening, we will invite you to our office to take one or more assessments. Assessments make it possible for DMWW to become more familiar with your skills.  We use assessments to obtain relevant and objective information early in the recruiting process. This process helps us identify applicants who will likely be successful at DMWW.

After you have completed your assessment(s), we may invite you for an in-person interview. A member of the Human Resources team conducts the initial interview which allows us to get to know you better, and helps us understand how your skills and abilities could impact DMWW.

Interview with Hiring Team

After the initial interview with Human Resources, we may forward your application materials to the hiring team, and you may be invited to interview with the hiring team.  If you are selected to interview with the hiring team, you will be contacted by Human Resources to schedule a time for an interview.

Background Investigation

DMWW will conduct a background investigation for employment candidates. This includes a review of employment references, college transcripts, driving record and criminal conviction records.

Pre-employment Physical and Drug Screen

We are proud to be a drug-free workplace. Prior to beginning work, you will be required to complete a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen paid for by DMWW.

Des Moines Water Works is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and complies with the Iowa Smokefree Air Act.
