Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) is committed to operating with fiscal discipline and transparency to earn and maintain customer confidence and ensure quality water service remains affordable for our customers.

DMWW provides unaudited monthly financial reports to the Board of Trustees within the Board packet which are available for viewing here.

DMWW conducts an annual Cost of Service study to determine the costs to serve each customer class and service area.  The most recent Cost of Service study is available for viewing: 2024 Cost of Service Report .

DMWW completed a water rate affordability study in 2023. Raftelis Financial Consultants concluded there is not a widespread water affordability problem in DMWW’s service areas; however, there are still households with low income who may struggle to pay their water bill. The study made recommendations to DMWW on approaches to improving the accessibility of water in the Des Moines area. Read the full Water Rate Affordability Study.

DMWW prepares a Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) on an annual basis to plan for large capital projects necessary to maintain a healthy water system, provide a high level of service to customers, and meet growing customer demands in the region.  DMWW’s Five-Year CIP is available for viewing: Five-Year CIP
