Organizational Chart

In 1919, Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) was formed as an independently owned and operated public utility, deriving its legal status from the Constitution of the State of Iowa and the statutes enacted by the Iowa General Assembly.  Its legal authority is set out in Article III, Sec. 38A, Constitution of the State of Iowa; Chapter 388, Code of Iowa; and Division V, Chapter 384, Code of Iowa.  The Board of Trustees has all of the powers of the City Council to operate the utility, except for levying taxes. The utility is owned by the water rate payers. 

The Board of Water Works Trustees of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, consists of five members, appointed by the Mayor of the City of Des Moines for a term of six years. Ted Corrigan is CEO & General Manager for Des Moines Water Works. His 30-year career with the utility has included leadership roles in Engineering, Water Production, and Water Distribution, before becoming Chief Operating Officer and now CEO. Mr. Corrigan is a Civil Engineering graduate from Iowa State University, a Licensed Professional Engineer, and holds Grade 4 Operator Certifications in Water Distribution and Water Treatment.

Chief Operating Officer
Kyle Danley is the Chief Operating Officer for Des Moines Water Works and has been with the utility since 1998.  He has held various positions over the years at the utility including Senior Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, Water Production Engineer, Water Distribution Engineer and Director of Water Production.   Mr. Danley holds several licenses in the State of Iowa including Professional Engineer, Grade 4 Water Distribution Operator, and Grade 4 Water Treatment Operator.  He has been the Secretary/Treasurer for the Iowa Section American Water Works Association (AWWA) since 2014 and a member of the AWWA standards committee on concrete pressure pipe since 2010.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University.

Chief Financial Officer
Amy Kahler is Chief Financial Officer for Des Moines Water Works (DMWW).  Prior to her position as CFO, she was Director of Customer Service & Marketing for 16 years.  A CPA by education and formal training, she joined Des Moines Water Works in 2000 and initially served as Controller.  Amy oversees all finance and accounting functions at Des Moines Water Works and also provides leadership to DMWW’s Customer Service, Human Resources, and Information Technology teams.  Amy graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting, and worked for Deloitte and Principal Financial Group prior to joining DMWW in 2000.
