Tap Requirements [1"]

Des Moines Water Works makes all taps to its system upon request by plumbers and contractors.  For general information and an overview of the process, refer to the procedures located here.

Plumbers and contractors are responsible for excavating and shoring prior to DMWW’s arrival to make the tap.  For 1” taps, DMWW requires excavation 12” behind and below the main in order to make the tap.

Application for water service in Runnells, Alleman, Cumming and unincorporated areas of Polk County should be made with DMWW Engineering Department. Please contact:
