Central Iowa Regional Water Discussion

Des Moines Water Works and other metro communities have a rich history of working together to provide water to the entire Des Moines Metro area. Des Moines Water Works is a member of the Central Iowa Regional Drinking Water Commission and meets regularly regarding regional water issues. In 2017, regionalization discussions have continued among a core team consisting of chairpersons of the boards of Des Moines Water Works, West Des Moines Water Works, and Urbandale Water Utility, and mayors of the cities of Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Ankeny, Johnston, and Waukee. Public meetings are held bi-weekly at 7:30 a.m. at Urbandale City Hall. Public input into the process is invited and encouraged.
