Who is Office of the CEO/General Manager?
The responsibilities of the Office of the CEO/General Manager are diverse; however, they encompass the vital aspects that ensure customers are receiving Water You Can Trust for Life, including the oversight and communication needed to operate the Utility.
Through a wide variety of projects, activities and commitments, the Office of the CEO/General Manger is responsible for the oversight of providing quality water in reliable quantities, while operating on the cutting edge with fiscal responsibility and anticipating and meeting the needs and expectations of an expanding base of Iowa customers.
The Office of the CEO/General Manager Team:
General Manager/CEO reports to Board of Water Works Trustees and oversees director team. The General Manager CEO participates actively in internal/external committees and organizations and serves on numerous boards and committees, both within the water industry as well as in the community.
Assistant General Manager works in collaboration with the General Manger/CEO in overseeing the Utility and supervises legislative and regulatory issues, communication, and special projects. The Assistant General Manager manages and coordinates suburb accounts and markets new services, and leads the safety committee.
Our Executive Assistant interacts on behalf of the General Manager and Assistant General Manager with customers and officials. The Executive Assistant serves as the contact for all Board of Trustees and prepares official Board of Trustee meeting minutes and maintains documentation.
Our lobbyist oversees legislative and regulatory issues and reviews and monitors the state legislature. The position coordinates/writes comment letters for government or industry regulations, and focuses on improving source water quality through watershed initiatives. The Lobbyist also coordinates water industry discussion and issues with large water utilities in the State of Iowa.
Our Marketing and Communications area produces and develops a variety of publications, including internal and external newsletters, annual water quality report and material for the Des Moines Botanical Center. We prepare all public relations and marketing material for the Utility and Des Moines Botanical Center, including brochures and news releases.
We provide leadership in coordinating th annual Iowa Children’s Water Festival.
