Career Opportunities: Recruiting Process

 

Online Application

Our online application starts with you clicking on the “Apply Online” icon. Once you have submitted your online application, you will receive an email notification indicating that we have received your resume.

Assessments/Interview

After we receive your online application, we will review it to see if you meet the requirements for the position. We may call you to obtain additional information about your qualifications.

If we feel that you have potential for an opening, we will invite you to come to DMWW to take our assessments. You are an individual and we want to treat you that way. Assessments make it possible for DMWW to get to know you. We use the assessments to obtain concrete, valid information early in the recruiting process. This process helps us identify two key things for in-depth assessment:

  • applicants most likely to be successful at DMWW
  • applicants with the potential to make a difference at DMWW

We follow up our online assessments with an interview process. The initial interview is conducted by a member of the Human Resources team. It allows us to get to know you more personally, to get a better idea of your skills, and ability to impact DMWW. It will also give you the chance to know us better too.

Interview with Hiring Team

After the initial interview with Human Resources, we will pass on your background materials to the hiring team. Once they review your application, assessments, and your interview with Human Resources, they will determine if they are interested in interviewing you for the position. If you are selected to interview with the Hiring Team, you will be contacted by Human Resources to schedule a time to interview.

Background Investigation

A background investigation will be completed for employment candidates.  This includes a review of employment references, college transcripts, driving record, and criminal conviction records.

Pre-employment Physical and Drug Screen

Des Moines Water Works is proud to be a drug-free workplace.  Prior to beginning your work, you will be required to complete a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen paid by DMWW.
